DistributionPhenologyReporting RatePhotos
A moth species long thought to be extinct in England. Last recorded in England near Dover in 1952. And until 2025 believed to survive only on the remote Scottish island of Tiree, its rediscovery In Kent has stunned the UK conservation community.
Rediscovered at Kent Wildlife Trust’s (KWT) Lydden Temple Ewell Reserve near Dover in mid-June 2025 after a 73-year absence.
Grade 3 — adults are hard to separate from other species, so photos showing all critical ID features will be required, or in some cases a voucher specimen (seek advice before releasing the moth).
