Potential leaf mines of this species will need to be tenanted and reared through for confirmation.
First confirmed record was from Orlestone complex in 1975. Maitland added the species to the British list in 1977 (1977. Ent. Rec. 99: 64-66) based in part on one female that he reared in 1976 and one male reared by Teddy P-C from mines both collected at Ham Street on 12 September 1975.
Hornbeam (Carpinus betulus)
Grade R — records of leafmines will only be accepted if the moth is reared and, in some cases, dissected.
