Species Account

Locally distributed in small pockets across Kent, this species and can be found wherever there are decent stands of Aspen (but it also feeds on other Poplars, hence the name).

It is similar to Figure of Eighty, other Lutestrings and Yellow Horned. However, this species usually has more numerous cross-lines and bands (or Lute strings) running across the forewings, and the central white-ish mark on the forewing is solid and look less like a number, more of a blotch.

Record Verification

Grade 2 adults can be confused with other species, so good quality photographs or possibly a specimen will be required if the recorder is not familiar with the species.
